(Reposted by Mark to get around a Google glitch, but this is actually Alison writing...) I went into the hospital Thursday morning (January 7) for a scheduled c-section (he was breech), and he was born just after noon. I spent the remainder of the day Thursday on morphine, which took us awhile to discover that it was what was making me so sick. When I told them to stop giving me morphine, I started to feel a lot better, but had delayed the start of, and lost a day of, recovery. Thank you to the friends who came to visit, and I'm sorry that I was probably sick when you came by. Friday was a much better day, but word must have gotten out that I wasn't doing well, because we didn't have as many visitors for the remainder of our stay. Saturday, Ryland had lost 8% of his birth weight, and they get concerned if a baby loses 10%, so before that happened, they started supplementing his feeding. By Saturday night, though, my milk had started to come in, and I was told that I could back off supplementing as much. We came home Sunday morning. Next post I'll tell a little about our first week home and share more pictures. |
