Wednesday, April 29, 2009 When Mark got ready for work in the morning, he found one of his dresser drawers rearranged: In place of clothes was a stack of diapers, topped with a positive pregnancy test, and a note reading, "Make room, Daddy, I'm moving in!" That afternoon I went to get the blood test. The nurse tied off my upper arm, then looked at me and said, "You don't need to pout yet - I haven't done anything to you!" She worried about how I might handle similar procedures over the next several months if this one came back confirming pregnancy. I told her it won't be easy, but it'll be worth it, and I'll get over it. A few hours later, I got the phone call that confirmed the blood test as positive. I called Mark at work, and we began discussing how and when to share our wonderful news with family and friends. After work, Mark went shopping and found a necklace for me. It has a silver pendant with two tiny footprints and the inscription "Our family just grew by two feet." A photo can go on the back when we have an appropriate one. |
