Will I?

The title of this post is in response to the many people who have said, "Oh, you'll know!"

For the last several weeks, a common question asked me has been, "Have you had any contractions?"  I've been saying, "No, I don't think so..."  To which well-wishers reply "Oh, you'll know!" as if there's no question that I would be able to identify the difference between a really hard kick and a contraction.

Well, yesterday at the doctor, I was hooked up to a monitor for about 20 minutes to measure baby's heart rate and contractions.  Even watching the paper didn't make me sure those were contractions I was feeling, just strong movements that made the needle warble a little.  But the doc, obviously much more experienced than I, identified a few contractions.

But the baby is still breech, so since I am showing signs of labor (albeit still unidentifiable to myself), we can't wait much longer to get him out.  So...tomorrow (Thursday) is the big day!  I report to the hospital at 9:00 am, and surgery is scheduled for 11:30 am.  For those who follow this blog, we'll post Ryland's stats and some pictures as soon after his birth as we are able, so check back!
